Pre-Cata boredom

So.. only three days left til there's actually something to do in this game. Been spending these last few weeks not raiding, but leveling alts and grinding rep in dungeons instead, which I'm fairly sick of. Can't wait to get some new quests and leveling to do, not to mention the new dungeons and raids - will be good.

Problem is, I have no idea whatsoever which char I want to make my main in the next explansion. My hunter has been the raiding character in WotLK but my priest and paladin have a lot of my attention at the moment, it's just more fun to be able to do more than just one thing, whereas my hunter's only good for damage. Tsktsk, we'll see what happens I guess.

Other than that I'm just looking for a new guild, I assume that it won't be too hard once some people have leveled to 85 and know what they want to play. Any suggestions would be lovely, as I've no idea whatsoever!

What a difference a UI makes

So, after weeks of looking at my crappy priest UI, I decided to clean it up a bit. Or well, actually I got too much nagging after posting a screenshot of when we kill LK, so I just had to fix it :P
Sooo, there it is, in all its glory, with the amazing LK kill where we got two staves, woot! Oh, and a taste of our lovely guild chat as well, deary me.

That's the priest. The hunter UI I haven't actually been able to fix any more, I have sincerely been trying to remove stuff that I might not need but.. I NEED IT ALL! :( So right now it looks somewhat like this:

Can you see now why I need it all? Yeh, I thought so. Recount isn't from that boss, btw, saw now that it looks a bit fucked xD I usually use DxE instead of DBM, but sometimes I just need a boosmod that yells at me what to do when I'm feeling lazy. Either way, what can I change? I'm clueless.
I heard that a good UI makes you a better player and everything but.. how much of a difference can it really make?

So, guild updaaaates, we have had some people join and then leave again (after getting boosted to Kingslayer 25, sigh), but they were totall Freds so I'm just happy to be rid of them. We've had about a gazillion bad hunters joining and leaving/getting kicked after I've tried to make them improve without success. How hard can it really be to understand how macros work or which trinkets they really shouldn't use because they're already so much above hitcap? I just want to reach through the screen and punch them in the face, fer realz. So as it looks right now, I won't get to play my priest as a main when Cataclysm hits, we don't have any decent hunters and we already have priests :( Ahwell, so long as it's the best for the guild I guess I can live with that ^^,
Hopefully we'll get some new ones soon, go apply at Absolution's website, we want you :D

Heidi Klum sucks btw, just sayin'

Newfound Love

Even though I really like playing my hunter, lately I feel like I'm not moving forward at all. Not doing more dps, not failing less, not being less of a baddie. My priest took me about a year to level (not joking) and now I'm relaly glad I did. Healing is a great challenge, and even though I haven't downed the LK or anything amazing with it, right now it's the most fun character to play. I've been asked to go fulltime healing, because apparently they see some potential in me (woop!) but I don' t know if I could just abandon the hunter and take on a whole new role in the 25-man raids. As it stands we've only got two hunters and one of them needs gear - badly. So until we've got at least one more I guess I'll stick with it.
The guild is now back on track, which is amazing. We've really struggled with the easiest encounters for the past few weeks and yesterday everything just snapped in place and we even oneshotted the naughty Professor, which we haven't done before - ever. Hopefully this means that people have pulled themselves together and will keep on doing so, because that could actually give us a pretty good chance with the hardmodes. On the 10-man front it seems like our current raidleader wants to give it to someone else, he wants to just show up, tank a bit and then leave. I can't really blame him, group B has been a bit of a chaotic story with people not showing up, leaving the game/guild, people being shit and whatnot. Problem is that it's gonna be hard to find a worthy replacement, after all he is a very good raidleader, probably better than anyone else in the group could be. Hoping for the best!
Loving the screenshot - KILL ORIGIN! I was forced to come heal dull Netherstorm stuff for their rep farming :(

Update, at long last

Ok, so maybe I am just THE worst blogger ever or maybe I'm just lazy and forgetful in general. So our last guild didn't work out in the end (SURPRIIIISE) and we just joined a guild at random because we were so sick and tired of constantly having to organize everything. After easily boosting them through the first wing of ICC 25 we realized that that wasn't really what we were looking for either, we wanted endgame raiding and the ability to down bosses, in a competitive yet laidback environment. Maybe the WoW-Gods heard our prayers because they sent us Absolution from Quel'Thalas. Crossrealming because they couldn't find enough good players to do what they wanted on their current server they decided that Terokkar might be a good realm to come to. First night they spent in ICC with us and we downed both the first wing, Rotface and Festergut in no time at all. This might sound like total bullshit and no achievement at all to you but on Terokkar only one guild had downed Fester and Rotface before we did, so it was a rather big thing for us.
I joined Absolution the early morning after our raid after having spent some time on vent with the loonies from the guild. When I logged back on in the morning, the merge was already happening and most of the old core were in the guild.
Now, five weeks after we've merged we have one realm first Lich King kill behind us, and are currently very close to downing him on 25-man as well. I myself didn't get a clean kill on mr Lich until just two weeks ago, due to our team never being the same and people not showing up when they were supposed to - as per usual.

Along the way we have lost some of the players we've spent almost one year together with and while that is unfortunate, I think this guild is probably the best guild ever. Our guild leader always has the guild's best interest in mind and he's working very hard to keep everyone happy. While his ways of raidleading might not appeal to everyone, I think that you sometimes have to be serious to make everyone focus and to achieve what we want. There's plenty of time to fuck around outside of raids.
I guess everything can't be perfect but there's probably only one thing I'd add to this guild - another hunter. Since I'm currently the only one we have atm it does get a bit lonely in the hunter channel, and I don't have anyone to bitch with when they whine about stuff we fail on (cough, kinetic bombs). Our previous one felt he got a bit too much shit for his performance so he decided to leave last week, something that is bittersweet, obviously I want someone that I can trust when it comes to carrying out what we've been assigned to do.
I would also like him/her to be Marksman, since I don't really like this spec but play it since we need the buff /sigh

So why this longass post? Well, seeing as I can't get on my train to Stockholm and school I'm stuck here in Uppsala for the day and what is there to do other than write a stupid blog post when nothing at all is going on on WoW and I seem to have forgotten my mouse at home, tut tut.

Anyway, let's see how long it'll take until the new update comes, probably not too long since we probably have another Lichy raid tonight, one that I'm not particularly looking forward to if people can't bring their A-game.

Professor down!

Good news everyone, we found a way to bring Putricide down ;D Took us three tries as you can see, and it was really close at the end - one person even died twice, thank God for druids!
Right now it feels like we've got the perfect team, even though we don't have a shammy or a DK for buffs. Never thought I'd say it but we actually need some DK dps in the guild now, our best player quit wow yesterday, so I hope we'll get a nice app coming soon. Speaking of applications it's amazing how many we've gotten over such a short period of time, some well written and others... not. Perhaps it's not weird since we're one of the two endgame raiding guilds on the server, and we're more casual than our nemesis Unification.
No huge news on the Terokkar drama front, just some in-game couple breaking up, she posted something mean about him on the forums, he went on her account and deleted all her characters. Gotta love it!
(You know you love me, xoxo, and so on)

Being a girl in the World of Warcraft

Over my year of playing this game I've sometimes encountered people who think that girls have it so much easier in this game when it comes to being picked for raids, being given gold, getting priority over loot, etc. It's a very common misconception and I can't really understand where or when it started, if anything I can see why it would be -harder- to play the game as a girl.
a) OMG, A GIRL! You get a lot of creepy guys whispering you, especially after your voice confirming on vent that you're a girl. Don't get me wrong, I love talking to new people and I've also made some good friends through random whispers, both ones that I've initiated and vice versa. So long as they're decent and clean I'm positive towards it.
b) it can sometimes be harder to hang out with and get accepted by the guys in the "gang". You have to prove that you can be just as tough as they are and that you don't need any special treatment, a girl is able to take a joke just as well as a guy does - if not better sometimes ;P
c) numerous times I've gotten the comment that "You're quite a good player for a girl". For a girl? Since when are girls not as good as playing computer games as guys? By all means, guys overall tend to play more computer games than girls, but in no way do they have some gene that makes them better at playing them.
d) constantly getting compared to other girls in-game. If you would put a picture up on your guild forums, you would get evaluated and compared to other girls that have done the same, it's just the way it is. Sure, guys can joke around about someone having a beard and tell them to l2 shave, but that's about as far as it goes. Sometimes they even evaluate you in guild chat, for you and everyone else to see, and that can be quite... disrespectful. I don't want to hear if I'm "fuckable", "cute as a button" or an "ugly bitch", keep that to yourself. If I want to get judged based on looks, I'd just run my photos by a modeling agency, kthx?

All that being said, it can also be a good thing to be a girl. On vent, you don't have to say your name every time you tell "Add on me!" or "I've got the burning bile!", they all know who it is anyway. Guys tend to believe that girls are more sensitive and understanding, and they turn to you for advice, which makes you see their soft side too - something that the other guys won't ;)
Wall of text yet again, but it's only to delay my packing by writing something long with zero substance in it ^_^

(The screenshot has nothing to do with it, it's just kind of dedicated to Cidien. Kudos to you for getting all your mounts, I don't get how you do it. I got that achievement last week xD And yes, I do have a lot of crap in my bags)

Keh, really bad at updating this thing, it seems... ahwell, better late than never I guess. The guild has been very quiet over the holidays, and we've mostly done some funraids like Ulduar, ICC 10 and so on. The other day we managed to get a mint group for ToGC 10 which gave us hope of an Insanity run, which we've waited for ages for. Slight problem with our maintank and rogue dps made us have to replace them with another tank and a marksman hunter (which made everyone happyhappy of course).
Everything went smoothly up until Anub, where we somehow managed to land two patches of ice on top of each other, which resulted in the spikes consuming both of them as they were ran under them. Devastated we managed to get the first three adds down before they submerged, while still keeping dps up on Anub who had entered phase three already. We failed to get the last add down and eventually it came up to oneshot our offtank and then healers and dps, one by one. In the end, our main pally tank was the only one left up, bad thing was he couldn't bubble because of the forbearance debuff. He died when Anub was on 10k health. Ten fucking thousand health. That's like two auto shots, one explosive, half a kill shot.
Needless to say we were all devastated by this failure, but at least it means that we can definitely do it next week, and hopefully get a cheeky realm first on it. Go Vindíco!
